Uniformed Public Services BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Ivybridge Community College

Course description

There are 18 units of study which will be taught through classroom lecturers, discussions, presentations and practical activity. Delivery of the programme will be supported through an interactive teacher/student forum, and downloads of work are accessed through the student internet. Further information about the National Certificate and National Award will be discussed at interview.

There are 6 core units which must be taken:

Government, Policies and the Public Services

Leadership and Teamwork in the Public Services

Citizenship, Diversity and the Public Services

Physical Preparation, Health and Lifestyle for the Public Services

Understanding Discipline in the Uniformed Public Services

Fitness Testing and Training for the Uniformed Public Services

and 12 specialist units that include.

Entry requirements

The entry requirements are slightly less demanding than A Levels but we would still expect a good educational background with normally four C grades at GCSE, as well as staff recommendations that the student will cope with the learning style and assessments made. Mathematics and English should be passed with a C grade.

BTEC Level 3 Diplomas are equivalent to two GCE Advanced Levels with Subsidiary Diplomas being equivalent to one. These are studied along with other Advanced Subsidiary or Vocational courses.
