Hairdressing (Level 2 & 3) at Bishop Laney Sixth Form

Course description

Hairdressing (QCF) is a technical level qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed hairdresser/stylist.


This is offered at both Level 2 and Level 3.

Course content

Students will study a combined course of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

Entry requirements

Level 2 = 3 grade 3-9 (A*- D) GCSEs or equivalent

Level 3 = 5 grade 4-9 (A*- C) GCSEs or equivalent including English and/or Maths


Assessment is conducted through modular units.

Future opportunities

As a junior hairdresser/hairstylist, learners could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include:

- Commercial hair salons
- Independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
- Product manufacturing and training
- Television, film, theatre and media
- Armed services
- HM prison service
- Cruise liners
