Motor Sport Extended Diploma level 2 at Leicester College
This one year study programme has been specifically designed to develop knowledge and skills required for a career in the Motorsport industry. The units have been carefully selected to ensure your introduction to the world of Motorsport goes beyond the maintenance and repair of the vehicles. Typical units include: • Health & Safety in the Motorsport Environment • Motorsport Event Regulations • Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices • Motorsport Engine Mechanical, Lubrication, and Cooling Systems • Motorsport Fuel, Ignition, Air and Exhaust Systems • Motorsport Electrical Units and Components • Inspecting Motorsport Vehicles During Competition As well as the units above, you will develop other Motorsport industry skills: Vehicle Mathematics, Science and Information Communication and Technology There is a real focus on progression (see Career Options and Progression), careers and increasing your employability skills.
At this level the qualification is split into technical units covering all aspects of the motor vehicle and applied units: - MS0102 - Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping - MS3 - Knowledge of Motorsport Event Regulations - MS4- Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices - MS57 – Motorsport Vehicle Inspection - MS56.11- Engine Mechanical, Lubrication and Cooling System - MS56.12- Fuel, Ignition, air and Exhaust System - MS56.3 - Electrical - MS56.2 - Chassis - MS56.4 - Transmission and Drive-line Additional applied units: - ICT2 - Information Communication and Technology Vehicle Mathematics 2 Vehicle Science 2
At least four GCSEs at grades A* - C including maths, Science and English. If applicable, evidence of recent academic attendance of 85% and a reference will be required. Attendance to one of our formal information sessions is compulsory as part of the entry requirements.
Coursework and Exams
You could progress and develop within the Automotive Motorsport environment as a technician, or continue your studies to Higher Education
