Hair and Media Makeup Diploma level 2 at Leicester College

Course description

The Level Two Diploma in Hair and Media Make up is a qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up. You will have the opportunity to develop your creative skills by working on other group members before working on clients in college and during your work placement. This course is suitable for learners who enjoy communicating and working with other people and working creatively with both hair and make up.

Course content

This programme of study may include the following subjects, health and safety practice in the salon, apply make up, the art of photographic make up, the art of dressing hair, create an image, themed face painting, body art design and shampoo and condition the hair and scalp. Learners may study GCSE/Functional skills in Maths and /or English whilst on the programme. Learners will need to undertake a minimum of 36 hours of external work placement throughout the year.

Entry requirements

You will require Functional Skills English level 1 or GCSE English grade D or above or GCSE English grade 3-9 (new structure) and two further GCSE's Grade D or above, one positive reference the ability to communicate effectively, 80% attendance and an art portfolio available for interview.

Future opportunities

You can progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Media Make-up Artistry or work within a beauty salon as a make up specialist or freelance make up artist or within department store or a hairdressing salon as a junior.
