Fashion, Textiles and Clothing Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Wigan & Leigh College

Course description

If you are enthusiastic about clothes and textiles, fashion and its trends, then this course will enable you to acquire the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the Fashion industry - either by progression to a higher education course or by employment as a junior fashion designer or pattern cutter.

Course content

You will develop your skills in Fashion Studies (Fashion Design, Computer Aided Design, Pattern Cutting and Garmetn Production) along with supporting with the textiles, fashion illustration and visual studies.

Entry requirements

NEW GCSE TARIFF

A minimum of 5 grade 4-9 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English and an art related subject. Students will need to present a portfolio of work



OLD GCSE TARIFF

A minimum of 5 A* - C GCSE subject grades or equivalent including maths or English and an art related subject. Students will need to present a portfolio of work

Assessment

Work is project based and is assessed throughout the course. You are encouraged to evaluate your own progress using your own initiative and through tutorials.

You will work in industry standard studios with skilled and experienced professionals who have a history of successfully helping students achieve high grades. During the course you will visit museums, galleries, Graduate Fashio week in London and involvement in photo shoots and catwalk events.
