Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at Sussex Coast College Hastings

Course description

During this advance course you will be able to extend your knowledge and improve you skills in fault rectification and diagnosis.

Course content

During our Level 3 VRQ you will gain essential knowledge and skills in fault diagnosis and rectification. You will learn in our dedicated garages and workshops at our Automotive Training Centre and have use of the latest industry standard equipment working individually and as part of a team to find, diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on a wide range of light vehicles. . You will also improve your English, maths, IT and employability skills during the course.

You will explore a range of topics including:

  • Engine diagnostics and repair
  • Electronic and electrical system diagnostics and repair
  • Transmission diagnostic and repair
  • Chassis systems diagnostics and repair.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's A*-C or Equivalent Qualification including Maths and English

Assessment

Your assessments will be made up of 40% practical, 30% coursework and 30% exams.

Financial information

There will be a small additional cost for the course as you will be required to wear safety boots and black work trousers during the course.

Future opportunities

On completion of the course you will have gained a range of skills that will allow you to progress into employment or onto further study at University.

You may have opportunities to start your career in the industry working as a skilled mechanic, an MOT tester or in a customer facing role.

      The centre is located on the Northridge Industrial Estate, has IMI (Institute of Motor Industry) awards accreditation and approval to deliver various levels of Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair programs and Apprenticeships  at levels 2 and 3.
