Access to Apprenticeship Electromechanical Engineering at Leicester College
This course is designed to prepare learners for Engineering Apprenticeships. Throughout the course there may be opportunities for learners to enter a full apprenticeship where these become available. This course is designed to give you the basic skills across a range of engineering disciplines including Bench Fitting, Machining, Fabrication, Welding, Electrical Maintenance and Electronics. It will provide both the practical skills and the underpinning knowledge required for these disciplines. You will also study Maths, English and ICT and will be encouraged and supported to find a full apprenticeship
The content will included NVQ diploma in performing engineering operations with modules that include Health and Safety Materials, Communications in Engineering, Bench Fitting, Milling and Turning, Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance and fabrication and Welding. You will also study the underpinning knowledge in a Vocational Related Qualification to support these units. Along side these you will also study maths, English and ICT functional skills.
4 GCSEs at grade 3, including Maths, English and Science or a Level 1 vocational qualification would also be considered. You will also need to demonstrate motivation, commitment and a passion for engineering. Learners must be prepared to accept employment where a suitable apprenticeship becomes available.

The program will enable you to progress into a full apprenticeship or advanced apprentice in a range of engineering disciplines and pathways. You will be encouraged and supported to apply for these during your program.
