Graphic Design Level 2 at Halesowen College

Course description

If you're interested in the world of Graphic Design this one year course will give you the chance to study the work of contemporary and historical artists, typographers and designers, learn traditional and digital specialist skills and develop your own ideas and creativity.

Entry requirements

  • At least 1 GSCE grade D in either Art, Textiles or Graphics and grade E in 2 subjects, including English Language

You will be expected to take English and Maths as part of your programme to improve your qualifications in these subjects.

Assessment

All units are assessed by coursework; there are no exams. Coursework must be completed and handed in to a deadline.

You can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction for your work.

Further information

You need to show an interest in art and design and should bring a portfolio of your own work to your interview. This can be a mixture of school work and personal work. We can also view your work from memory stick, digital device or online, eg DeviantArt.

You will need some basic art equipment and materials as you will be expected to develop your project work outside taught studio time. There are also trips from time to time which students need to pay for, eg Harry Potter Studios.
