Level 2 & Level 3 Animal Care Apprencticeship at North Shropshire College - NSC

Course description

Love animals? Want to work with them? Then why not do an apprenticeship in Animal Care. By doing an animal care apprenticeship you will learn valuable skills and gain valuable work experience. You will work closely with your employer and NSC to learn all about animal care and the day to day tasks that come with working in an animal care establishment. You will be able to use your new skills and knowledge to support you through your qualification. You will also learn a wide variety of skills that will assist you in a working environment.

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

Anyone who is interested in a career with animals. You can choose your own optional units which are most relevant to you and the animal care establishment you are working from. There are many units to choose from such as feeding, handling, stock rotation and grooming.

The animal care industry is perhaps one of the most fulfilling roles within the land-based sector offering opportunities to work in organisations such as boarding kennels, catteries, pet shops, dog groomers, trainers, breeders, zoos, wildlife parks and animal welfare charities. The qualification can be tailored to suit you and your area of employment. As well as working towards a qualification in the animal care sector you will also be trained in First Aid.

Assessment

You will complete the apprenticeship in the work place, with the support of a dedicated assessor. You may be asked to come into college from time to time, to help support the qualification and experience many other aspects of animal care. You will also learn new skills and get support from your employer.

Future opportunities

If you have completed the Level 3 Apprenticeship, you can progress onto a Higher Level Apprenticeship or permanent employment.
