FE choices is an Entry 3/ Level 1 qualification that offers a range of vocational tasters, in addition to maths, English and ICT.The course is an ideal chance to try lots of different areas of work and study, and also a chance to make contacts with other areas within the college.Foundation Learning:Foundation Learning offer courses from Entry Level 1 to Level 1. The emphasis on all courses in this area is on preparing young people for independent living and/ or future employment. For many it is also the stepping stone to further education courses in specific areas. Small group sizes ensure that all learners are fully supported, and individually tailored support packages can be discussed during interview. As a team we try to develop confidence and release potential through a wide range of activities. Courses are available for learners aged 16-25 (depending upon EHCP details and requirements) Group sizes are generally between 6 - 8 and teaching assistance is provided in each
You will study a variety of occupational workshops alongside classroom based units including personal and social development skills work preparation.Some other areas you may study include: CarpentryCookingSport Personal & Social Development Gardening/ horticulture Handling money and budgeting
Completion of literacy and numeracy assessment and successful interview showing a commitment to regular attendance and punctuality, enthusiasm and a desire to succeed
Assessment evidence may be produced through annotated photographs, tutor observation, worksheets, witness statements etc which you will need to gather in a qualification portfolio.
General stationery and a memory stick is required. General recommendations for study:Other equipment is dependent on vocational elements of the programme - for example safety boots may be required for work in the Construction department.
We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Progression onto Full time education at Level 1 or 2.
Attendance is usually timetabled 3 or 4 days per week.Additional attendance may be required for Work Experience as part of your Study Programme.
