Media - A Level at Dinnington High School
A course suitable for students wishing to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of both theory and practice within the creative media industries.
The course requires students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of media language (how media texts communicate meanings), representation (how the media portrays events, issues, individuals and social groups), media industries (the process of production, distribution and circulation) and media audiences (how they are targeted and how they consume/respond to media forms). The course requires students to complete close analysis of a range of texts, relevant to key social, cultural, economic, political and historical contexts. Along with this, students will apply knowledge gained to their own, individual production.
4/5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent), preferably a Grade C in a creative subject and English Language.
This course requires a broad range of skills; ICT, creativity, independent learning, communication, analytical.
TBC by exam boards, but will be a combination of coursework and written exam(s).
Courses/careers in any creative and/or communication related subjects.
Work as Media Technician.
