Light Vehicle Maintenance ad Repair Apprenticeship Level 3 at City College Coventry

Course description

The course is delivered in your workplace; however you will need to attend College one day a week for completion of your Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles and functional skills.

You will be allocated a personal assessor who will guide and support you with training, assessment and portfolio building.

The Level 3 Diplomas in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence and Principles are for anyone developing a career in the motor industry. These practical qualifications demonstrate your key skills and understanding in motor vehicle systems on the job, in your own workplace, showing that you meet national standards for automotive workers. You will be employed working as a Light Vehicle Diagnostic Technician.

As well as earning a wage you will gain experience of working in a real life Vehicle Servicing/Diagnostic environment.  The apprenticeship will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge that employers require as well as transferable skills such as English and maths.

You will develop your skill and knowledge in a range of Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair related topics that include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Diagnostic and Rectification
  • Engine Faults
  • Transmission and Driveline Faults
  • Chassis Faults
  • Auxiliary Electrical Faults

Entry requirements

You need to be employed in a relevant role to join an Apprenticeship programme plus:

4 GCSEs Grade C or above, including English & maths

or a relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit Level combined with GCSE/Level 2 English & maths
