Further Mathematics A Level at Warwickshire College Group

Course description

Advanced Level Further Mathematics is an excellent foundation for students intending to study either Mathematics in its own right or a subject with a mathematical base at university.   Note that you must also choose to study A Level Mathematics to be able to study A Level Further Mathematics. 

Course content

AS Level

In addition to studying pure mathematics and mechanics in A level Maths, students will study statistics, decision mathematics and further pure mathematics.

  • Statistics – representation of data, probability and bivariate data.
  • Decision Maths – algorithms, graph theory, networks and linear programming.
  • Further Pure Maths – mathematical induction, complex numbers, matrices, summation of series.

A2 Level

Further development of the topics studied at AS level.

Entry requirements


Full level 2


Five grade C GCSE to include English Language and a grade A* in GCSE Mathematics.

Offers subject to a satisfactory School Report. 


At both AS and A2 Level : three equally weighted written examinations

Future opportunities

An extremely wide range of jobs, degrees and Higher National Diplomas in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computing and the Financial Sector in particular. You can study maths as a joint course with almost any other university option.
