Nail Technology - Level 2 Diploma at College of West Anglia

Course description

This course is for those who have hair and beauty therapy diploma level 1 or equivalent and people who wish to embark on a career as a Nail Technician. 
This is a one year course, three/four days will be spent in college. 

Units covered include: 
- Health and Safety 
- Promote Additional Products and Services 
- Advice and consult with clients 
- Repair natural nails to improve condition and appearance 
- Apply nail art 
- Apply nails using enhancement technology 
- Tanning techniques 
- Eye lash techniques 
- Make-up techniques 
- Manicure and pedicure 
- Create image based on themes 
- Salon reception duties 
Plus additional units

Entry requirements

Preferably at least 4 GCSE passes at D and above. Alternatively, successful completion of the level 1 hair and beauty diploma with satisfactory attendance and progress reviews from the level 1 course. Candidates must have good interpersonal and communication skills, have a keen interest in the Beauty Industry, and be of smart appearance. Candidates should be well motivated, keen to learn and prepared to work hard to achieve and develop their skills. 
If a candidate does not meet these requirements they could embark on a level 1 programme for a year and if suitable, then go onto this course the following year.

Assessment

Assessments are carried out using four methods, observation of practical competence, short assignments, oral questioning and written mandatory tests. A portfolio of work is built up during the course and used as part of the assessment process.

Financial information

Age 16-18
If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay a course fee; however, all full-time courses have a resource fee attached and there may also be additional fees for materials, kits and trips.

Age 19+

Fees for students aged 19+ vary according to programme, age and circumstances.
