Music BTEC Ext Cert Level 3 Y1 at East Sussex College

Course description

This BTEC level 3 course will offer students the key knowledge and practical skills required for their potential chosen career as a freelance musician. They will have 3 lessons per week (4 hrs tuition) and will study 3 subject areas: Live Music workshop, Contemporary Songwriting Techniques and Aural Perception. Together these three areas should give you the skills to understand music, write your own songs and perform them for recording.

There are no subject specific entry criteria for this course


The work is all coursework related with no final exam and will require students to give formal oral and live music presentations and submit portfolio(s) detailing all research undertaken in the completion of each unit

Future opportunities

Most students will continue onto University from this particular course to continue studies in Music. Some students will choose to move into the music industry with employment.

Further information

We will audition candidates for this course. At the end of the year, students will gain the BTEC Extended certificate.

This course is run by East Sussex Music Service at the East Sussex Academy of Music in partnership with Sussex Downs College, Lewes.
