Entry requirements

This course is for learners who have achieved a Level 1 Diploma in Motor vehicle maintenance or who have achieved mostly Ds and Es at GCSE. Also, anyone who has prior knowledge and experience of working in the Motor vehicle repair and maintenance industry whose qualification are no longer valid or have no relative qualifications. This course is ideal for progressing Level 1 learners, those that are long term unemployed and returning to education and who have relevant industrial experience. You will need to have an initial assessment and diagnostic assessments to identify what level of study you are currently working at for English and Maths as well as a mechanical reasoning assessment to identify your ability to think in a structured and methodical way to be able to recognise simple engineering applications and principles. For the course you will need a pair of overalls and safety shoes (steel toe cap).

Upon successfully completing this course you can progress on to studying on the Level 2 Diploma to take your skills to a more advanced level. Alternatively you could seek employment in the industry or apply for an Apprenticeship.
