Life Skills Diploma (Entry Level 2 and 3) at Herefordshire & Ludlow College

Course description

This is an introductory course that helps students make the transition from school to college. The qualification includes units on Employability Skills as well as Personal Development. These units are taught through a wide range of practical activities such as gardening, cookery, conservation projects, animal care, childcare, enterprise and planning charity events.

The main focus is on developing students’ confidence, their interpersonal skills, independence and teamwork.

Course content

Students will take part in lots of fun and challenging activities such as organising charity events and planning trips and visits. This is to help students learn to work as part of a team and support each other.

Students also will be able to take part in sporting activities and other enrichment events such as a drumming workshops, canoeing, theatre trips and clay pigeon shooting. They will be encouraged to develop problem-solving skills through a range of projects and practical activities.

Entry requirements

  • No formal entry qualifications are required
  • All applicants will undergo an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy
  • Places will be offered following a satisfactory interview
  • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area

Future opportunities

Students may progress to appropriate vocational courses or into supported employment or training.
