Course description

This is a rewarding and challenging course that prepares you for a career working in a caring environment.

It is particularly suitable if you are interested in working in the Health Service or wish to go on to university.

Course content

Your Course

The course looks at many areas including:

  • Human Life Span
  • Working in the Health & Social Care Sector
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Promoting Public Health
  • Nutritional Health

You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in a range of health and social care environments in order to relate theory to practice and explore career options. This will be through a variety of placements and you will be expected to travel to these placements.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on your suitability to work with children which you will be required to pay for, currently £44.00.*

Entry requirements

Standard Level 3 entry requirements apply. For this course you must also have a GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science.

Assessment

80% Coursework, 20% Exam

Future opportunities

You could go on to further training in such areas as Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or enter careers in Housing Services or Community Care. Alternatively, you may choose to undertake a Degree programme in such areas as Social Science and Health Studies.
