Course description

Summary: Year one: Introductory Topics in Psychology (50%), Psychology in Context (50%)

Courses are taught by subject specialists, some of whom are experienced examiners for their subject. This gives them an insight into how to assess students responses with a view to maximising student potential.

Course content

Introductory Topics in Psychology (Social Influence, Memory, Attachment), Psychology in Context (Approaches in Psychology & Biopsychology, Psychopathology; Research Methods).

Entry requirements

No previous knowledge of the subject is required. However, GCSE English at Grade B and Maths at Grade C or above are essential. (Applicants without a grade B in English will be considered on an individual basis based on their overall GCSE exam results.)


2 exams (1.5 hours each), Paper 1: Psychology in Context (50%); Paper 2: Introductory Topics in Psychology (50%)

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

Psychology is a useful subject for both Higher Education courses and careers in a wide range of areas, such as clinical psychology, nursing, social work, teaching, management and journalism.
