Hairdressing Level 2 Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

This programme will provide you with a clear understanding of Hairdressing services. You will explore and carry out the latest techniques and trends in styling, cutting and colouring within our fully equipped salons. In addition to this you will be given the opportunity to attend training with manufacturers, showcase your skills in local and national competitions and work on a number of paying clients.
Completion from this course may allow you to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or into employment; working within a salon environment.
During the course, you will study the following units: Advising and Consulting With Clients; Shampooing, Conditioning and Treating the Hair and Scalp; Colouring and Lightening Hair; Styling and Finishing Hair; Setting and Dressing Hair; Cutting Hair Using Basic Techniques; Full Salon Reception Duties; Developing and Maintaining your Effectiveness at Work; Platting and Twisting Hair.


Entry requirements

You will need GCSE’s including English Language (minimum Grade C) or completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing VRQ – minus units in cutting and colouring. You will also be required to pass a skills test as-well as a literacy and numeracy test.
You will be required to attend an interview/experience day and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).


Assessment is a combination of theory and practical assessments with online and written tests throughout the year.
