Mathematics at Lodge Park Academy

Course description

Units Studied

Pure Mathematics: (Module codes ‐ C1 and C2)
The study of Pure Mathematics will extend the knowledge gained from the GCSE course and will introduce many new topics. Derivation of formulae and solving equations are vital elements, and so the efficient use of algebra is of vital importance.

Decision Mathematics: (Module code D1)
The study of algorithms and maps in mathematics. This is a logical unit of mathematics that requires clear approaches to a practical problem and is related to the underlying principles of computer science.

Pure Mathematics: (Module codes ‐ C3 and C4)
Extending the study of Pure Mathematics in more depth than in C1 and C2.

Areas to be studied in depth include functions, trigonometrical identities and calculus.

Statistics: (Module Code, S1)
Real‐world situations will be modelled in order that precise, logical deductions and inferences may be made. Areas studied include sampling methods, graphical representation of data, probability theory, types of distributions, regression and correlation.
