Music Practice Level 3 Extended Diploma at Doncaster College
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Practice is a one year top up programme in Music. Together with a previously achieved Level 3 diploma it is equivalent to 3 x A levels.
Through the Extended Diploma, learners will develop a greater sense of independence and creativity extending, refining and developing their skills. It is also possible to complete the BTEC Extended Project qualification during the year, which is the equivalent of one AS level.
The course is made up of practical and theory projects and workshops giving learners the opportunity to expand their horizons within the field of Music. Assignments on the course vary in timescale and type depending on the nature of the project.
The Level 3 Diploma in Music Practice is an 18 unit qualification (including the 9 units of the diploma).
This course is only suitable for learners who have successfully completed a L3 Diploma in Music Practice as well as their allocated functional skills qualification. A successful interview with the course leader will also be required.
Functional skills are embedded throughout the course, you may be required to take an exam and/or complete a portfolio to achieve these. The course is assessed continuously with critiques at the end of each project.
Many students will progress on to degree level courses such as the BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology at University Centre Doncaster.
Employment opportunities are performer, sound recording engineer, composer/arranger, record production.
