Groundworks Level 1 Diploma at Highbury College

Course description

This programme is designed for those students who wish to start a career in groundworks, but are currently not working in the industry.

Course content

You will be trained in 'entry level' construction techniques meaning that training will cover various aspects of the trade at a level suited to newcomers.

Some elements include: road and path types, kerb laying, concreting, block paving and excavation and reinstatement techniques.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs grades A*-E including Maths and English. You will also need to pass the aptitude test.

Assessment

To achieve the Diploma, students must be successful in all units and the synoptic practical assignment. They must also pass the online tests at the end of the year.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma can give the student the opportunity to progress onto the second year and the Level 2 Diploma.
