A Level Photography at Kingston College

Course description

Photography A Level will introduce you to a variety of experiences exploring a range of photographic media, techniques and processes. You may use traditional methods and/or digital techniques. Researching the work of other photographers and artists is an integral part of the investigating and making process. You will produce a sketchbook/workbook/journal to underpin your work, documenting your research and recording the development of your own work. You should be able to express ideas and link your intentions to outcomes in a confident and assured manner. Working with your tutor, you may get the opportunity to publish your work online.

Course content

A Level Photography is a linear qualification with students taking the final exam after two years of study. The course explores a range of photographic media techniques and processes using traditional methods and/or digital techniques. Researching the work of other photographers and artists is an integral part of the course. Students will produce a sketchbook/workbook journal to underpin their work.

Entry requirements

A Level entry criteria are a minimum of five GCSEs, at grades 9-5, all in academic subjects. These must include a minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE English and a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics. This qualification can only be studied alongside two other A Level subjects.

Assessment

A Level Photography is a linear qualification with students taking the final exam after two years of study.

Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, FdA or BA (Hons) Degree in specialist photography courses e.g. Documentary Photography, Digital Photography and Photo Journalism.

    • The site at Kingston Hall Road is the College's main site and houses the Student Registry and Welfare departments as well as Deli KC and the ACT Theatre.  The Arena Sports facility and Arena Hair and Beauty are both attached to this building, which also houses the central administration facility for the College.
