Applied IT & Business BTEC Entry Level Certificate at Leeds City College
The course combines IT with business practices, whilst developing your English and Maths skills. It will aid your personal and social development and build your work skills.
You will study both IT units and Business units which will help you decide the best pathway for your future whether you decide to progress onto to Level 1 IT or Business course, an apprenticeship or employment.
Along with the IT & Business units, you will also study Maths and English and carry out work placements throughout the year.
You will cover a selection of topics, including those listed below:
- Using the Internet
- Using Email
- Design and imaging software
- Word processing
- Presentation Software
- English and Maths Functional Skills – these subjects are mandatory
Students wishing to enrol to a Foundation Learning Programme will come with a range of qualifications that may include GCSEs at Grade 1 (G) or above (Maths & English) and Grade 1 (G) or above (all other subjects), or no qualifications.
Students need to demonstrate that they are working at Entry Level 2 in both Maths & English.
Students should have a genuine interest in IT and Business, a commitment to complete homework and independent study by agreed deadlines.
Assessment is through portfolio work and assignments. Your course teachers will guide you through the assignment criteria for each unit and make sure you are prepared to achieve your best.
After completing this course, you will be able to move onto apprenticeships, employment, Level 1 Certificate/Diploma in Business or IT depending upon your final grade.
English and Maths will be built into your course if your grades are below 4/5.
