Biology at Cottingham High School

Course description

Biology covers a wide range of topics from the study of ecosystems to molecular biology. Your studies on this course will also develop your investigative skills through data collection, analysis and evaluation.

The AS Level course consists of the following units:

1 - Biology and disease
2 - The variety of living organisms
3 - Investigative and practical skills in Biology (AS)

The A2 Level course consists of the following units:

4 - Populations and the environment
5 - Control in cells and in organisms
6 - Investigative and practical skills in Biology (A2)

As well as learning about the topics in the above units, you will gain many essential skills throughout this course. These include critical thinking, processing and evaluating data, commenting on reliability, accuracy and validity of data and designing your own investigations.

Entry requirements

GCSE’s at grade A*-C are generally required.
