AS Geography at The Beacon School
The course covers aspects of physical, human and environmental geography with some scope for students to pursue their particular interest. Field work and research skills are a key feature. Topics include hazards, climate change, migration, biodiversity, aspects of urban planning and many key ideas and debates in our world today.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE, which could lead onto higher education to study geography, other areas of humanities, science or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to geography such as a Town Planner, Environmental Officer or Weather Forecaster. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
