L3 BTEC- Business Studies at Bradford Academy

Course description

This course will help you to understand how businesses work. All the theory you learn will be applied to real businesses and situations.

All learners will be able to apply their theory to real life businesses. This will help you to run your own business or help you to progress in whatever type of employment you want to go into.  You will know how a successful business should run, and be able to identify ways of improving the performance of a business.

You need to be able to be self motivated and be able to work independently. ICT skills will help as all of the coursework is produced on PC. You also need to be able to research effectively and be organised so you can meet deadlines.

 

Course content

Business BTEC is available as Subsidiary Diploma (6 units- equivalent to 1 A-Level) or Diploma (12 units- equivalent to 2 A-Levels). Both are studied over 2 years.

Students will complete 3 or 6 units in their first year including:

  • Business Accounting
  • Business Resources
  • Recruitment & Selection

Students then complete another 3 or 6 units in their second year including

  • Website Design Strategy
  • Understanding Retail
  • Starting a Small Business

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's A*-C

Assessment

This course is 100% coursework. This means you will need to be motivated to work hard throughout the course and be able to meet deadlines.

Future opportunities

This is a nationally recognised qualification for entering employment and many universities. Students could go on to study or have careers in Law, Accounting, Management, Business Adminisation or Customer Service.
