Study Programmes with AHBN at Consortia Training

Course description

We run a study program and a Hair and Beauty introduction course with work placements for learners aged between 16 to 19 where an NVQ Level 1 can be gained.

Course content

There are 3 routes within the Study Programme.

ROUTE 1—An Introduction to the hair and beauty sector.
This option offers you the chance to complete simple hair and beauty tasks to help you decide which is the right career for you.

ROUTE 2—NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing and Barbering
This option offers a more practical experience for those who are hands on and have decided to undertake a career in hairdressing.

ROUTE 3—Employability Option
This can be tailored around your individual needs to help you gain experience and build your skills ready for entering work.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for these courses but you must be between the ages of 16 and 18.

Assessment

English and math support is available to all learners. Dependent on your skills and qualifications you may be able to complete Functional Skills assessments from Entry level 2 up to Level 2.

Employability and Personal, Social Development sessions will also improve your skills and abilities, and help you prepare yourself for entering sustained employment.

WORK PLACEMENT : All learners will be required to undertake a number of weeks within a work placement. This will be tailored to your individual needs and will enable you to get real work experiences and knowledge before moving in to paid employment.

Financial information

This course is fully funded by the government and, dependent on your circumstances, you may be entitled to further financial support. Through the Bursary Fund.

EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities is a big part of the Apprenticeship framework and will be embedded within your training.
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills including; Creative thinking, reflective learning and team working will also be assessed and embedded within your course.
  • You will also receive continued Information, Advice and Guidance to help you progress and complete your programme to the best of your abilities.
