Music AS A2 at The Rushden Community College

Course content

Unit 1 - Performing Music

Here you will have the opportunity to perform either as a soloist or as part of an ensemble, or indeed both. You choose your own programme to fill a five or six minute 'recital'. This is internally assessed and then sent off for moderation.

Unit 2 - Composing

In this unit, you will develop your composition skills leading to the composing of a three-minute piece in response to a given brief. You will also write a CD sleeve note, explaining your composition and how you reached the end product. The given brief will be given to you in September.

Unit 3 - Developing Musical Understanding

This will take the form of a written examination. You will have set works taken from the anthology, where you will be developing your listening skills, learning about different musical styles and studying melody and harmony.

Entry requirements
