Sport - Level 2 Diploma in Sport NCFE at Wakefield College

Course description

If you are looking at a career in sport or want to work towards a higher level of qualification in the area then this course could be for you. This course is a mix of practical and theory and will develop your skills and knowledge in sports providing you with a sound understanding of the opportunities for employment and further education within the sector.

Course content

What You Will Study

You will study a variety of units that can include: • Participating in sport • Anatomy and physiology for exercise • Introduction to Healthy exercise and nutrition • Taking part in sport • Sports coaching • Developing sporting skills and tactical awareness • Maths • English

How You Will Learn

You will learn through a variety of activities including guest speakers, visits to work places, college lesson based activities and practical application of skills in both indoor sporting environment and the outdoors.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A*-D (or new grade 9-3)

OR

Level 1 qualification, plus Level 1 Functional skills in English or Maths

Assessment

You will be assessed through a combination of work books, observation of practical assessments, essays, leaflets, presentations and answering tutor based questions. As part of your study programme you will also take external examinations in Maths and English

Financial information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students. Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost. Further Study

After successful completion of the course you may be able to go on to a level 3 course in either Sport, or another area of interest depending upon final grade and references

The course is intended to provide a foundation for people who are interested in a career in sport so with application of the knowledge and skills gained there are opportunities to progress within the Sports vocational areas or on to further study.
