French is the study of the French language, the Francophone world and French culture comprising of current events, literature, cinema and French history.
By choosing this course you will develop your communication and presentation skills, expand your understanding of current world events, and gain a more developed understanding of different cultures and beliefs. In addition, you will take part in debates as well as learn how to analyse literature and cinema. Finally, your mastering of grammar and linguistics will allow you to gain a much more comprehensive understanding of your own language.
GCSE Grade 6 in French and GCSE Grade 5 in English. A keen interest in French culture and history is desirable as well as independent learning and research skills.
A total of 3 examinations
Paper 1: Listening, reading and translation into English (2hrs) (40%)

Students can continue their studies at University in a French related degree course. There are many universities which allow you to combine your French studies with another subject.
Possible careers include: Journalism and media, teaching, tourism, marketing and advertising, interpreter, translator and various sectors of global corporations.
