Electrical Installation Level 2 Apprenticeship at Stoke on Trent College

Course description

This is a two year course offered as a qualification for people entering the electrical installation industry who have an apprenticeship with a recognised training agency It will provide the range of skills necessary for anyone entering the electrical installation industry and working in domestic, commercial and industrial premises. This is a mixture of a day and a block release course run in conjunction with an approved electrical contractor. Teaching will comprise of a variety of classroom and practical based activities.

Course content

Entry requirements

Applicants must be at least 16 years old at the start of the Apprenticeship. There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to show enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area. You will need to be employed in the industry. Applicants who do not have a GCSE grade C in English and Maths will work towards these during the Apprenticeship.

Assessment

A range of methods which will include assignments, projects, case studies, practical exercises along with written and online examinations. Please note that some block attendance will be required for practical assessments.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will enable students to progress to senior trainee status and installation electrician. There is also the option to progress onto Inspection and Testing courses.

City and Guilds is a nationally recognised vocational qualification which provides the background knowledge and skills in a specific work related areas. National Vocational Qualifications are work related qualifications which are based on your ability to do a particular job to industry standards. They provide clear evidence of skills and experience to potential employers. In order to achieve an NVQ you have to demonstrate your practical skills and knowledge to an assessor. NVQs can be studied at five levels from basic to managerial skills.
