Barbering Level 2 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

This course will develop your practical skills in cutting men's hair along with preparing you for employment as a Barber. You will be trained in different men’s hair techniques and work on external clients in our industry standard salon to gain real life barbering experience.

Course content

Through projects, demonstartions and practical workshops you will learn skills in:

  • Shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp

  • Styling men’s hair

  • Cutting facial hair

  • Scalp massage services

  • Promoting products and services to clients

  • Colouring and lightening hair

Alongside your course you will study practical English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs (E-G) or equivalent in Salon Services. You will also be required to attend a course introduction meeting.

Future opportunities

You’ll have the skills and knowledge to join a barbers in a junior role or continue your study at Level 3 in barbering.
