Religious Studies GCSE at Calday Grange Grammar School
The specification has two main themes, Thinking about God and Morality and Truth Spirituality and Contemporary Issues.
The first theme involves examining the nature of God, making moral decisions, human rights and responsibilities and global issues such as poverty. The second theme considers the nature of truth and spirituality and ways of expressing spirituality.
It also examines the religious response to contemporary issues such as drug abuse and crime and punishment.
The pupils will cover the course from the perspective of two different religious groups. The subject is open to any pupil whether they have a faith or not. Their faith does not have a bearing on their final result.
The students are assessed through two examinations and there is no coursework component.
