Uniformed Public Services BTEC Extended Certificate Level 2 at Bracknell and Wokingham College

Course description

This work-related course is ideal for anyone wanting to join one of the uniformed public services, such as the military or ‘blue light’ services. It will help you handle changing circumstances and also develop skills which are essential in these services. While on the course, you will be taught by members of staff with public service experience, including the Police, RAF and a range of services. The course also offers practical sporting activities. All students study the following three core units and three specialist units. Core units: • Public service skills • Improving health and fitness • Career planning for the uniformed public services Additional units: • Crime and its effects on society • Land navigation by map and compass • Adventurous activities & teamwork

Entry requirements

• Four GCSEs grade D-E, GCSE English Language will preferably be at grade D or higher • Any vocational qualifications being used as part of the entry requirements must be achieved at pass level • If you do not have a grade C in GCSE English Language and maths you will be need to be working towards achieving this alongside your course

Future opportunities

• Further education - progress on to the BTEC Level 3 course
