Art Craft and Design at Outwood Academy Ripon

Course description

The A Level Art and Design course is designed to extend and develop your art skills, allowing you the independence and creative freedom to develop your own ideas and style. The course will develop your understanding and use of formal elements as well as introducing you to different aspects of art and design. You will also explore the work of other artists and craftspeople, both historic and contemporary. This will help to develop your understanding of the work of others, key movements and concepts in art and also give you a starting point and inspiration for your own studies
One Year (AS)
Unit 1- Art & Design Coursework
Unit 2- Externally set Assignment including 5 hours practical exam

Two Years (A2)
Unit 3- Art and Design Coursework
Unit 4- Externally set Assignment including 15 hours practical exam

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for students who are:
- keen to develop their visual skills
- creative, enthusiastic and imaginative
- able to sustain an investigation
- able to enjoy visits to galleries, museums, workshops and studios
- willing to experiment and take risks in their work
- willing to review their progress and make improvements
Applicants to this course will be asked to produce an art portfolio of work that will be required during the interview process.
