Sport BTEC Level 2 Diploma at NPL Football Academy (Leek Town FC)

Course description

If you are interested in sport, this course provides the knowledge, skills and experience needed to gain an entry level job in the sports and leisure industry or to progress onto another college course.

Course content

The course includes the study of the following areas:
- Anatomy and physiology for sport
- Planning and leading sports activities
- Outdoor adventurous activities
- Leading outdoor adventurous activities
- Development of personal fitness
- Technical skills and tactical awareness for sport

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade C/D or above, plus a positive Record of Achievement/Progress File.

Assessment

You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including assignments and practical tasks.

Future opportunities

On completion of this course you can progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or Public Services. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport can lead to work in a leisure centre or a gym, or in sports coaching. Specialist careers advice will be available from our Advice and Guidance Team throughout your course.

    • Leek Town Football Club were formed in 1946 and were played their formative years in the Cheshire League, Lancashire League and North West Counties before joining the Northern Premier League in 1987. In 1990 they won the Division One title and reached the FA Trophy final at Wembley, losing out to Barrow. In 1997 they claimed the Premier Division title and were promoted to the Conference where they spent two season before returning to the Northern Premier League.
