Course description

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business has been developed in the business sector to focus on education and training for employees working in administration, marketing, human resources, accounting, ICT and the legal and management areas of business to achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally specific qualification.

Students who take a BTEC Diploma in Business are those who have a keen interest in business and how it operates. They enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to their own lives and experience and want to find out more about business through personal research and investigation.

The course allows students to gain essential skills through a series of task based research projects that will give a key insight into the working world and the world of business and commerce.

The Business Environment (mandatory) Business Resources (mandatory) Introduction to Marketing (mandatory)

Year 2

Business Communications (mandatory) Business Accounting Market Research in Business

Entry requirements

Students embarking on this course will need 5 A*-C GCSE grades or equivalent including English and Maths.

The course is delivered during the school timetable with additional set tasks to be completed outside of the guided learning hours. Each assignment has a strict deadline which must be met.

Future opportunities

As part of a Level 3 package with other BTEC or A level choices, this course will be particularly relevant for entry onto vocationally-based university qualifications or an excellent preparation for seeking employment.
