Sport/P.E. Studies at Batley Girls' High School - Visual Arts College

Course content

In practical lessons, you will follow courses in netball, gymnastics, dance, badminton and rounders where you will have the opportunity to develop your individual and team skills. In theory lessons you will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of factors affecting fitness, how to train to improve your performance, sociological issues in sport, factors affecting participation and funding available for sporting events. In your course work you will be able to develop a training and improvement programme for a sport of your choice.

Level 5 in KS3 Physical Education. To be successful in this course you will need to be interested in sport, enjoy participating in a variety of activities and take an interest in the in the theoretical ideas which support sporting activities.


50% of the marks will be on your practical performance, in 4 activities

30% of the marks will be a written examination

20% of the marks will be a written training programme in a sport of your choice
