Applied Science Extended Diploma at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

Featuring both Forensic and Medical Pathways, this course provides the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment within science-based industries. Students will develop a range of analytical and scientific skills as well as practical techniques of enquiry to enable them to make an immediate impact in the workplace. Our well-developed relationships with a wide range of employers can help and support students into sustainable employment in areas such as research, quality control, materials testing, forensic or environmental science and crime scene investigation. Alternatively, progression to higher education is an option.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and Science (Students with a grade D in English will be accepted, but must study a GCSE in English alongside this programme.)


Extended Diplomas are coursework rather than exam based.

Financial information

You could be eligible for a 16-19 bursary to help with education-related costs.
