Course description

Are you interested in working in Health and Social Care or with Children and Young People? This course will give you an opportunity to explore these vocational areas and progress. This course will help you to develop the skills required for your chosen career, with an added focus on your personal and social development. You will also study English and Maths as part of your course.

Course content

Are you interested in working in Health, Social Care or with Children and Young People then this course will give you an opportunity to explore these vocational areas and progress. This course will help you to develop the skills required for your chosen career, with an added focus on your personal and social development. You will study English and Maths as part of your course. You will have experience within a real working environment to develop your practical skills with the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs at grade D or above including English and ideally Maths. Entry Level 3 or another relevant Entry Level qualification plus GCSE English at grade D or above. You will have a pre induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you. All learners will need to have a clear DBS prior to the start of the course and will be required to purchase a uniform.

Assessment

Assessment tasks and activities will enable students to produce valid, reliable evidence. Learners can produce evidence in a variety of different forms such as presentations, posters, projects etc.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course may enable progression to Level 2 Health and Social care or Level 2 Early Years Education and Care.

Further information

Functional Skills English and Maths are an integral part of the curriculum at this level to support your skills for employment. The college provides a wide range of support services to help learners achieve and progress further. Learners will be expected to purchase and wear a uniform. You will be expected to have a clear DBS in order to gain experience in the real work environment.
