Physics A Level at Alsop High School

Course description

Pupils opting for Physics will have a love of science and in most cases be also studying Maths A-level. Successful physics students are curious about how things work and thrive on the challenges of problem solving. They are able to work independently. They work carefully and with precision in both their practical and written work.

Course content

A-level Physics is the most mathematical of all the Sciences. It is a highly academic course and so is extremely respected by universities. As part of the course pupils will analyse and evaluate scientific knowledge and process; assess the validity, reliability and credibility of scientific information. The course enables pupils to cover a range of subject topics including: astrophysics, medical physics and applied physics.

AS/A2 Level Physics is essential for the following courses at Higher Education: Physics, all branches of engineering, electronics, astrophysics, telecommunications. ‘A’ Level Physics is very desirable to study: medicine, veterinary medicine, veterinary science, environmental sciences, chemistry, material sciences, computer sciences, mathematics courses, dentistry, pharmacy, accountancy, systems analysis, entry into the police and the military
