Course description

AS Chemistry builds on the knowledge and understanding of Chemistry developed at GCSE level. The course aimsto stimulate interest in and enjoyment of Chemistry, to foster imaginative, logical and critical thinking, to demonstrate the wider application of chemical knowledge, showing appreciation forsocial, environmental, economic and technological contributionsto society. It integratestheory and experimental work, developing investigative and manipulative skills. Students are encouraged to develop theirscientific communication skillsthrough research, discussion and written work.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5A*-C at GCSE including English Language and Maths and Dual Award Science GCSE at grades C/C or above (higher paper) or GCSE Chemistry at grade C or above (higher paper).
