Art & Design (unendorsed) AS/A2 at Stanborough School

Course description

Unendorsed Art & Design enables students to develop their own ideas and self-expression through a wide range of art disciplines. Whilst the traditional cornerstones of drawing and painting, sculpture and printing are still in place, less familiar ways of working such as photography, film and ICT will also be considered as creative outcomes. Students will be able to study at least 2 art disciplines and explore these in the context of recognised artists.

AS and A2 comprise 2 units each. Students are assessed through their sketchbooks and studio-based artwork, as well as a written and illustrated personal study at A2. The A2 personal study will, through the research of recognised artists and/or art movements, form the basis of each student’s own creative journey and resultant artwork. This course crucially enables students to keep their creative options open, and is therefore very effective in preparation for access to Colleges of Art, both locally and nationally.
