Fine Art for Creative Industries BTEC Level 3 Diploma at South Tyneside College

Course description

The core emphasis of the course is to offer a solid grounding in traditional practical skills and processes within a Fine Art context. These will be taught with a great emphasis on demonstration to help you achieve. You will receive thorough guidance in a range of key areas and experiment across the following areas:

  • Drawing
  • Painting Printing
  • Model Making
  • Casting

The course will link with aspects of film, television and theatre as you will establish techniques in prop making. The course will fully prepare you for further study at a higher level.

Entry requirements

The course requires students to have 4 or more GCSE grades C or above, including one in Art & Design or a Design Technology based related subject. This course is also recommended for students who have completed a full Level 2 qualification in Art & Design, Media or related subjects.


Coursework will form the basis of your assessment, the units are internally assessed through an accumulated portfolio of work. Assessment is continuous, offering opportunities through feedback for improvement where required.

Future opportunities

This course is designed to prepare students for further study on programmes such as the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design before applying to a degree programme.
