Sport - Boxing Elite Academy BTEC Diploma Level 2-3 at City College Brighton and Hove

Course description

(Open to men and women)
Our nationally renowned boxing academy has already produced amateur boxers who have won national titles and call-ups to the Team GB Training Squads. Join the Academy and receive top coaching, nutrition and sports science advice and training from professional boxers and coaches.

  • Sport BTEC Diploma (Level 2 - 3)

  • QYQ Level 2 Gym Instructing

The College also provides opportunities for students to
participate and complete in a range of sports including
rugby, netball and hockey.

Entry requirements

This can only be taken alongside the Sports Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma. Boxers must be affiliated to an England Boxing Affiliated Club to attend the AASE Academy.

Interview for entry: Interview required

Assessment

Methods of assessment include:

  • Practical assessment (of boxing performance)
  • Theory of the 8 modules assessments
  • Evidence collated in a portfolio

Financial information

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2016. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.

Future opportunities

During this programme you will receive a high level of coaching that could propel your amateur career onto the next level.

You will also receive a BTEC Diploma in Sport, which depending on the level you have achieved could lead into further study at College or University, or a career in the sports industry.

You will also achieve a coaching qualification in boxing, which could lead to voluntary or paid employment.

      City College’s new Technology Centre

      City College East Campus will be the location of a new £9 million Technology Centre. Expected to be completed in the 2016/17 academic year, this exciting new facility will be a leading educational and training hub for the next generation of construction workers. The centre has been specially designed so that students learning the different trades will be able to work together and follow each other through the construction process, mirroring true construction site conditions.
