Physical Education - A Level at Pool Hayes Arts and Community School

Course description

Brief Course Content

Over the two years students will study Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, Practical Sport, Historical Issues, and be expected to keep a portfolio of work.

Progression

A Level is accepted by Universities for courses in areas such as physiotherapy, sport sciences, sports studies, teaching and the armed forces.  Physical Education is desirable when applying for positions in the fire service, leisure management sector, police force, sports coaching establishments e.g football club staff/coach - amongst others.

Entry requirements

By Negotiation

GCSE Physical Education Grade B or above in both practical and theory aspects, with comparable results in core academic subjects.  (Higher Award BTEC Diploma Distinction - in exceptional circumstances).  A strong background in sport is required for this subject, which requires pupils to marry academic studies with continued performance in physical activities.  Pupils will be given the opportunity to train as a lifeguard to enhance grades.  This may take place during half terms etc.
