Dance BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Chipping Sodbury School

Course description

The course offered is a mixture of practical and theory, and will give you the opportunity to complete assignments and activities based on realistic situations linked to working in a dance related environment. It will give you a good feel for what it will be like to be at work in the dance industry as well as developing your communication, number, IT, time management and teamwork skills.

  2. Developing Skills & Techniques for Live Performance
  3. Group Performance Workshop

  • 8. Classical Ballet Technique
  • 9. Tap Dance Technique
  • 10. Jazz Dance Technique
  • 11. Street Dance Technique
  • 12. Contemporary Dance Technique

Entry requirements

For all Level 3 courses, students are expected to have achieved a minimum of 5 GGSEs at grade C or equivalent. For Vocational Courses, it should include English or Maths. Plus Level 2 Dance.


There are no formal exams. All work will be assessed through ongoing assignments. These will range from written tasks, to practically assessed scenario tasks. Some of these will be assessed internally and some will be set tasks that are sent off to the examiners to grade.

Future opportunities

This qualification will enable you to progress to degree courses in associated areas in performance or choreography, as well as teaching.
