ICT - Information Communication Technology at Guru Nanak Sikh Academy

Course description

This course is compulsory to all students. Students will be awarded a Distinction ( grade A), Merit (grade B) or Pass (grade C) for each unit. The course consists of 4 units the completion of which is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* to C. Unit 1 Provides students with a general understanding of Information and Communication Technology. Units 2, 3 and 4 introduce a more specialised vocational focus and provide opportunities for the student to broaden his/ her skills and knowledge gained in Unit 1. Assessment: Each module is internally assessed through portfolios of work. The examination board them moderates the mark, awarding a final grade

Future opportunities

The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a career in Information Technology or to progress onto studying for an NVQ level 3 in IT Users or related subjects. With further training, you could continue to develop your career in IT by working for a wide range of industries were IT skills are highly desirable. The course is work based which means you can earn and learn at the same time whilst developing the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers in the financial sectors are looking for.
